Hypnosis - How to Hypnotize Someone Else |
| Written by naturalalternative.net | |||
First of all, the person you are hoping to hypnotize must be fully familiar with you and completely trust you for this to work. In reality all hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis, so they must be one hundred per cent willing to surrender to you. If the person does not have total faith in your intentions their conscious mind will constantly interrupt with the process and you will get nowhere. It is always better to have a witness to the whole process, just to back you up with what transpired if there are any doubts in the future. Reassure your subject, remove any doubts and fears they may have and they will soon relax into the idea and feel better. 1. Select a quite place where the three of you will not be interrupted. 2. Ask your subject to breath deeply and gently and say, ‘As you take three deep breaths you will feel very calm and relaxed.’ 3. Keep your tone soothing and steady but not commanding like you are giving orders, the subject will not be able to relax that way, and say, ‘Now your legs and your toes are relaxed.’ ‘Now your chin is relaxed.’ ‘Now your thighs are relaxed.’ ‘Now your abdomen is relaxed.’ ‘Now your chest is relaxed.’ ‘Now the muscles in your neck are relaxed.’ ‘Imagine yourself at the top of some steps, as you walk down the steps you become more relaxed.’ ‘Count backwards from ten slowly as you walk down the steps; as you reach step one you will be completely relaxed, so relaxed that you will be unable to move a muscle in your body.’ By now the subject will be in stage one of hypnosis. 4. ‘Now I am taking you to your favourite place where you will find peace and tranquillity.’ Slowly describe the place in a soothing voice. 'Imagine you are in a wonderful place surrounded by green hills with birds singing and beautiful flowers. Now smell the flowers and the scent of the clean, fresh air around you. You are enjoying this scenery that is painted by your mind.’ 5. Attach a trigger word to this spot by saying, ‘I am giving you the trigger word Eden. Whenever you want to relax in the future, take three deep breaths and remember your trigger word.’ This will be permanently engraved onto the subject's subconscious mind and will stay there for the rest of their life. Repeat the trigger word four or five times to make sure the subconscious receives it. 6. Then say, ‘I will leave you in peace to enjoy your special place for five minutes.’ The subject will have no real concept of time, so after the agreed amount you may bring them back. 7. You can take them deeper into hypnosis from here to stage two and even three; you will be able to give them useful suggestions that will go directly to their subconscious mind. You can test the level of hypnosis by asking your subject to do something, ‘Now I instruct you to stand up, but you are so heavy that you will not be able to; the more you try, the harder it becomes.’ If you subject is in a deep trance they will not be able to stand; if, however, they are only in stage one they should be able to stand (or whatever else you told them would be impossible) easily. It is not always possible to hypnotize someone, it will largely depend on how good they are at relaxing themselves. Being confident in yourself and sounding like you know what you are doing (which will come with experience) will greatly improve your success rate. 8. All positive suggestions can be given at this stage. To bring your subject out of hypnosis say, ‘As I count to three you will come out feeling fresh, revitalized, full of energy and feeling better than before; count one, slowly coming out; count two, coming out; count three, wide awake now.’ If the subject does not come out after your count, do not panic; some subjects will prefer to come out in their own time. If you really want them to come out, because it’s taking too long for instance, say to them, ‘I know you are enjoying this state of relaxation. If I want you will never be able to experience this state of relaxation in the future, I have the power and you know I can do it.’ Say it firmly. Subjects under hypnosis will never do anything against their wishes or what they dislike so giving this command will bring them out instantly. It is helpful to play soft music as it helps the subject to relax. Essential Further Reading:Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors by D. Corydon Hammond
